WELCOME!!

Hello, my name is Jessica Conaway, and I’m extremely excited to be launching my very own website and consequently my own counseling practice.  I’ve always had a calling to enter the helping field, although I thought it would be in the medical arena. Things changed when I became a targeted case manger for children and families with mental illness, trauma histories, and deep emotional wounds. Once exposed to their stories I knew that I needed to provide a deeper healing, a healing that reached their hearts, the heart of their family, and community. I changed my major to counseling psychology and graduated in the fall of 2013 with my Master’s degree and certificate in play therapy. I also have additional training in trauma and grief and loss.

I’m extremely passionate about helping children, adolescence, and adults discover their God-given talents and unique gifts. I practice play therapy to work with my younger clients. This innovative technique allows them to communicate their struggles through their play. Play therapy creates a safe and comfortable atmosphere for children to express difficult emotions that often arise due to trauma or simply the difficulties of life.

Our deepest pain draws us to action. Once we have mastered the healing in our own hearts we are called to be the healing agent for others. I have overcome my traumatic past with the help of therapy and a great support system. My painful experiences have allowed me to fully experience and embrace the pain of another. There is hopehealing, and restoration in every circumstance.

My favorite quote, “Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.” Henri Nouwen
