Adolescents or teens, can come with unique challenges based on their developmental stage. They are seeking independence, and do this, by trying out new behaviors and roles. This may push boundaries that were previously set by parents, which in turn can create power struggles. Around this age puberty hits and causes hormonal mood swings that can be difficult to manage. They may also be experiencing stress from school, social groups, and even extra curricular activities.
My objective is to alleviate the pressure that your teen is facing, while simultaneously supporting you. I want to facilitate lines of open communication and strengthen your relationship.
They still need your love, support, structure, and guidance. I will give you the tools needed in order to facilitate a strong connection with your teen. Parents are invited to join every session for check in, so they are a part of the process, however I do maintain teens overall confidentiality.
Here are some common symptoms that teens face:
- Time Management
- Acting out
- Divorce or Separation of Parents
- Conflict within family or Peer Group
- Moving- changing schools
- Low-Self Esteem
